Snow and Rest

I shoveled the dogs' path in the backyard. I started the front, cleared the stoop and headed down the walk shoveling as I went. Then it happened. A slight twist the wrong way and I was down almost on my knees, grateful for the shovel as support. Limped my way back into the house. Broken. Now all I can do is what they're doing...

  1. What's broken? Hoping it's just a minor back tweak. My snowblower decided to malfunction so I had to shovel most of the driveway in addition to all the walkways, hot tub, etc. Fortunately I'm still standing :).

    Hope you feel better soon!

    1. Hi Sue, 'broken' as a figure of speech. Fortunately, nothing is broken but I'm quite tweaked and have been icing and resting. Walking is not an easy task so I'm laying low. Fortunately, my neighbors shoveled my sidewalk and apron to the driveway then R. came home (after plowing for 24 hours) and shoveled everything else.

    1. I love that picture! She was konked out. One of my first foster dogs, Herbie, always slept halfway out of his bed, it was the funniest thing.

    1. Hey Cindi, thanks, it was just a temporary back 'break'. Icing it regularly helped a lot.

I found that cabinet on the side of the road. It once held glassware in my kitchen, now it holds heads in the living room.

  4. I hope you're all recuperated from the shoveling. Luckily running through snow is one of Isaac and Martha's favorite things. I snowblow a trail around the back yard, and they race around it like couple rally cars with one of them eventually jumping the trail into the powder. Then they both are leaping around in deep stuff, funny as hell, they look like "The white buffalo" from the old De Laurentiis film. They come in and either sack out in front of the wood stove or couch and dead for several hours. Well, happy new year.

    1. Thanks John, Happy New Year to you, too.

I'm feeling better but being careful. At least I am now able to function.

Roger, Bug and Little Lucy have all enjoyed tromping through the snow. Hanz is just not interested in having that kind of fun. I often think of Isaac because Roger is so much like him. Roger is so joyful hopping around out there catching snowballs or his ball. Every time it snows I'm reminded how much snow and wet the furnishings of Schnauzers hold and they do come in looking like 'the white buffalo' -- not my favorite part as that snow becomes water everywhere. It's a task to try to get it all off of them. But they are happy and tired and that's a good thing.
